Senior Army Leader Message

2010 Veterans Day

This Veterans Day, we salute the generations of men and women who have served our Nation.

We have a sacred trust with the Soldiers who wear the uniform in support and defense of the United States of America. Previous generations stood firm to preserve and defend the freedoms and opportunities our country stands for, fighting whenever and wherever needed in service to our Nation. Today, our Soldiers choose to enlist, volunteering to serve while our Nation is at war. They serve with honor under the most difficult circumstances imaginable, and the sacrifices they make day after day are often overlooked or forgotten. We owe an immense debt of gratitude to those who have chosen to put their lives at risk for our country. Many have made the ultimate sacrifice.

On this Veterans Day, we encourage everyone to express their gratitude and thank the veterans of all wars for their great service and tremendous sacrifice to our Nation. As we enter our tenth year of persistent conflict, we especially ask you to remember this current generation of servicemen and women and their Families. We salute their courage and honor their selfless commitment as they join a long line of distinguished veterans in service to our great Nation.
