Reconstituted 1 September 1957 in the Regular Army and consolidated with the 82d Airborne Reconnaissance Company (active) (see ANNEX) and consolidated unit designated as Troop A, 17th Cavalry, an element of the 82d Airborne Division

Reorganized and redesignated 25 May 1964 as Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry (organic elements constituted 6 March 1964 and activated 25 May 1964)

Constituted 5 August 1917 in the National Army as Headquarters, 163d and 164th Infantry Brigades, and assigned to the 82d Division (later designated as the 82d Airborne Division)

Organized 6 September 1917 and 25 August 1917, respectively, at Camp Gordon, Georgia

Demobilized 26 May 1919 at Camp Mills, New York

Reconstituted 24 June 1921 in the Organized Reserves as Headquarters and Headquarters Companies, 163d and 164th Infantry Brigades, respectively, and assigned to the 82d Division

Consolidated, converted and redesignated 13 February 1942 as the 82d Reconnaissance Troop, and remained assigned to the 82d Division

Ordered into active military service 25 March 1942 and reorganized at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana

Reorganized and redesignated 1 April 1942 as the 82d Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop

Disbanded 15 August 1942 at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana

Reconstituted 22 February 1945 in the Organized Reserves as the Reconnaissance Platoon, 82d Airborne Division

Activated 1 March 1945 in France

Reorganized and redesignated 15 December 1947 as the 82d Reconnaissance Company, and relieved from assignment to the 82d Airborne Division

Withdrawn 25 April 1949 from the Organized Reserves and allotted to the Regular Army

Redesignated 15 July 1950 as the 82d Airborne Reconnaissance Company and assigned to the 82d Airborne Division
