  • Inactivated 10 November 1945 in Germany
  • Redesignated 7 July 1947 as Company D, 32d Tank Battalion, an element of the 3d Armored Division
  • Activated 15 July 1947 at Fort Knox, Kentucky
  • Redesignated 30 July 1948 as Company D, 32d Medium Tank Battalion
  • Redesignated 15 March 1955 as Company D, 32d Tank Battalion
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 October 1957 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Medium Tank Battalion, 32d Armor (organic elements concurrently constituted and activated)
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 September 1963 as the 1st Battalion, 32d Armor
  • Inactivated 16 June 1986 in Germany and relieved from assignment to the 3d Armored Division
  • Assigned 16 October 1986 to the 1st Cavalry Division and activated at Fort Hood, Texas
  • Inactivated 15 December 1992 at Fort Hood, Texas, and relieved from assignment to the 1st Cavalry Division
  • Assigned 16 April 1995 to the 2d Infantry Division and activated at Fort Lewis, Washington
  • Inactivated 15 September 2000 at Fort Lewis, Washington, and relieved from assignment to the 2d Infantry Division
  • Redesignated 28 June 2005 as the 1st Squadron, 32d Cavalry (organic elements concurrently redesignated as troops)
  • Assigned 16 September 2005 to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, and activated at Fort Campbell, Kentucky
  • Redesignated 1 October 2005 as the 1st Squadron, 32d Cavalry Regiment
