  • Constituted 23 September 1878 in the Pennsylvania National Guard as the Band, 13th Infantry Regiment, and organized at Scranton
  • Reorganized and redesignated 14 August 1916 as the Band Section, Provisional Headquarters Company, 13th Infantry Regiment
  • Mustered into Federal service 26 September 1916 at Mount Gretna
  • Redesignated 5 July 1918 as the Band Section, Headquarters Company, 51st Pioneer Infantry
  • Demobilized 8 January 1919 at Camp Wadsworth, South Carolina
  • Reorganized 6 July 1920 in the Pennsylvania National Guard at Scranton as the Band Section, Headquarters Company, 13th Infantry; Federally recognized 20 July 1920
  • Redesignated 1 April 1921 as the Band Section, Service Company, 109th Infantry, an element of the 28th Division
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 May 1940 as the Band, 109th Infantry
  • Inducted into Federal service 17 February 1941 at Scranton
  • (28th Division redesignated 17 February 1942 as the 28th Infantry Division)
  • Disbanded 17 August 1943 at Camp Pickett, Virginia
  • Reconstituted 25 August 1945 in the Pennsylvania National Guard; concurrently consolidated with the Band, 110th Infantry (see ANNEX 1); Band, 112th Infantry (see ANNEX 2); and the 28th Infantry Division Band (see ANNEX 3) and consolidated unit designated as the 28th Infantry Division Band
  • Reorganized and Federally recognized 10 December 1946 at Altoona
  • Ordered into active Federal service 5 September 1950 at Altoona
  • (28th Infantry Division Band [NGUS] organized and Federally recognized 18 June 1953 at Altoona)
  • Released 15 June 1954 from active Federal service and reverted to state control; Federal recognition concurrently withdrawn from the 28th Infantry Division Band (NGUS)
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 April 1963 as the band portion of Headquarters, Headquarters and Band, 28th Infantry Division Support Command
  • Reorganized and redesignated 24 March 1964 as the band portion of Headquarters and Headquarters Company and Band, 28th Infantry Division Support Command
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 December 1971 as Detachment 1, 28th Adjutant General Company
  • Location changed 1 August 1980 to Hollidaysburg
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 September 1990 as the 28th Infantry Division Band
