  • Constituted 2 August 1943 in the Army of the United States as the Band, 104th Infantry Division
  • Activated 15 August 1943 at the Oregon Maneuver Area
  • Redesignated 1 December 1943 as the 104th Infantry Division Band
  • Inactivated 6 December 1945 at Camp San Luis Obispo, California
  • Allotted 4 November 1946 to the Organized Reserves
  • Assigned 22 September 1947 to the 104th Infantry Division
  • Activated 20 October 1947 at Portland, Oregon
  • (Organized Reserves redesignated 25 March 1948 as the Organized Reserve Corps; redesignated 9 July 1952 as the Army Reserve)
  • Reorganized and redesignated 10 June 1959 as the 104th Division Band, an element of the 104th Division (Training)
  • Consolidated 10 January 1968 with the Support Company, 104th Division (Training) and consolidated unit designated as Support Company and Band, 104th Division (Training); concurrently location changed to Vancouver, Washington
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 September 1970 as Headquarters, Headquarters Company, and Band, 104th Support Battalion, an element of the 104th Division (Training)
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 April 1971 as Headquarters, Headquarters Detachment, and Band, 104th Support Battalion, an element of the 104th Division (Training)
  • Band element withdrawn 16 November 1982 and redesignated as the 804th Army Band, an element of the 104th Division (Training) (Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 104th Support Battalion--hereafter separate lineage)
  • Reorganized and redesignated 17 September 1983 as the band element of Headquarters Company, 104th Division (Training)
  • Band element withdrawn 16 September 1988 from Headquarters Company, 104th Division (Training); concurrently reorganized and redesignated as the 104th Division Band
  • (104th Division [Training] reorganized and redesignated 16 April 1995 as the 104th Division [Institutional Training])
  • Relieved 1 October 2008 from assignment to the 104th Division (Institutional Training)
  • Reorganized and redesignated 16 October 2008 as the 204th Army Band
