229th Engineer Company

  • Organized and Federally recognized 29 August 1949 in the Wisconsin Army National Guard at Prairie du Chien as the Medical Company, 128th Infantry, an element of the 32d Infantry Division
  • Converted and redesignated 15 February 1959 as Company A, 158th Transportation Battalion, and relieved from assignment to the 32d Infantry Division
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 January 1960 as the 1100th Transportation Company
  • Converted and redesignated 15 May 1961 as Company C, 173d Engineer Battalion
  • Consolidated 1 June 1963 with Company B, 173d Engineer Battalion (organized and Federally recognized 15 May 1961 at Prairie du Chien), and consolidated unit designated as Company C, 173d Engineer Battalion (173d Engineer Battalion assigned 1 November 1965 to the 32d Infantry Division)
  • Relieved 30 December 1967 from assignment to the 32d Infantry Division; concurrently consolidated with Company D, 173d Engineer Battalion (organized and Federally recognized 1 November 1965 at Prairie du Chien) , and consolidated unit reorganized and redesignated as the 229th Engineer Company
  • Ordered into active Federal service 6 December 1990 at Prairie du Chien; released 18 May 1991 from active Federal service and reverted to state control
  • Ordered into active Federal service 7 February 2003 at Prairie du Chien; released from active Federal service 24 July 2004 and reverted to state control
  • Ordered into active Federal service 24 August 2012 at Prairie du Chien; released from active Federal service 27 September 2013 and reverted to state control
  • HOME STATION: Prairie du Chien (less detachment at Platteville)
