  • Inactivated 1 April 1949 at Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky

  • Reorganized and redesignated 3 February 1964 as the 1st Battalion, 502d Infantry
  • Relieved 16 September 2004 from assignment to the 101st Airborne Division and assigned to the 2d Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division
  • Redesignated 1 October 2005 as the 1st Battalion, 502d Infantry Regiment
