             Constituted 18 November 1944 in the Army of the United States as the 42d Military Police Criminal Investigation Section

            Activated 26 November 1944 in France

            Redesignated 31 March 1945 as the 42d Military Police Criminal Investigation Detachment

            Inactivated 15 November 1945 at Camp Bullis, Texas

            Redesignated 8 May 1947 as the 300th Military Police Criminal Investigation Detachment and allotted to the Organized Reserves

            Activated 30 May 1947 at Memphis, Tennessee

            (Organized Reserves redesignated 25 March 1948 as the Organized Reserve Corps; redesignated 9 July 1952 as the Army Reserve)

            Ordered into active military service 11 September 1950 at Memphis, Tennessee; released from active military service 15 February 1955 and reverted to reserve status

            Reorganized and redesignated 31 May 1955 as the 300th Military Police Detachment

Inactivated 15 October 1958 at Memphis, Tennessee

            Allotted 1 July 1968 to the Regular Army

Activated 1 September 1968 at Oakland Army Base, California

            Inactivated 29 August 1971 at Oakland Army Base, California

            Activated 21 April 1975 in Germany

            Inactivated 20 November 1977 in Germany

            Reorganized and redesignated 2 July 1996 as the 42d Military Police Detachment 

            Activated 16 October 1997 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina
