- Organized 1 June 1921 in the New York Guard at Buffalo as Headquarters Detachment and Combat Train, 3d Battalion, 106th Field Artillery
- Federally recognized 31 October 1921 in the New York National Guard
- (106th Field Artillery assigned 17 November 1921 to the 27th Division [later redesignated as the 27th Infantry Division])
- Reorganized and redesignated 5 June 1925 as Headquarters Battery and Combat Train, 3d Battalion, 106th Field Artillery
- Inducted into Federal service 15 October 1940 at Buffalo
- 106th Field Artillery reorganized 23 January 1941 with the 3d Battalion absorbed by the 1st and 2d Battalions
- Regiment broken up 1 September 1942 and its elements reorganized and redesignated as follows:
- Headquarters and Headquarters Battery as Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 225th Field Artillery; 1st Battalion as the 106th Field Artillery Battalion, an element of the 27th Infantry Division; 2d Battalion as the 1st Battalion, 225th Field Artillery (hereafter separate lineages)
- Former Combat Train, 3d Battalion, 106th Field Artillery, reorganized and Federally recognized 2 December 1947 in the New York Army National Guard at Buffalo as the 27th Military Police Company, an element of the 27th Infantry Division
- (27th Infantry Division reorganized and redesignated 1 February 1955 as the 27th Armored Division)
- 27th Military Police Company reorganized and redesignated 1 December 1967 as the 206th Military Police Company, and relieved from assignment to the 27th Armored Division
- Ordered into active Federal service 6 December 1990 at Buffalo; released from active Federal service 22 May 1991 and reverted to state control
- Consolidated 1 October 1996 with Detachment 1, 442d Military Police Company (organized and Federally recognized 7 March 1990 at Buffalo) and consolidated unit designated as the 105th Military Police CompanyOrdered into active Federal service 10 February 2003 at Buffalo; released from active Federal service 17 June 2004 and reverted to state control
- Ordered into active Federal service 8 March 2011 at Buffalo; released from active Federal service 9 January 2012 and reverted to state control
