  • Constituted in July 1923 in the Organized Reserves as the 354th Graves Registration Unit
  • Organized in March 1926 in Detroit, Michigan
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 July 1936 as the 712th Quartermaster Battalion
  • 712th Quartermaster Battalion broken up 1 June 1940 and Company A redesignated as the 601st Quartermaster Company (remainder of battalion—hereafter separate lineages)
  • Ordered into active military service 28 November 1942 at Camp Blanding, Florida, as the 601st Quartermaster Graves Registration Company
  • Inactivated 30 January 1946 in the Philippines
  • Redesignated 14 January 1947 as the 311th Quartermaster Graves Registration Company
  • Activated 24 January 1947 at Petersburg, Virginia
  • (Organized Reserves redesignated 25 March 1948 as the Organized Reserve Corps; redesignated 9 July 1952 as the Army Reserve)
  • Ordered into active military service 23 January 1951 at Petersburg, Virginia
  • Location changed 27 October 1951 to Germany
  • Location changed 18 March 1955 to Petersburg, Virginia
  • Released from active military service 19 March 1955 and reverted to reserve status
  • Inactivated 20 July 1955 at Petersburg, Virginia
  • Activated 16 December 1979 at Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, as the 311th Quartermaster Company
  • Ordered into active military service 27 September 1990 at Aguadilla, Puerto Rico; released from active military service 14 April 1991 and reverted to reserve status
  • Ordered into active military service 22 September 2001 at Aguadilla, Puerto Rico; released from active military service 21 September 2002 and reverted to reserve status
  • Ordered into active military service 10 February 2003 at Aguadilla, Puerto Rico; released from active military service 4 June 2003 and reverted to reserve status
