  • Constituted 15 July 1946 in the Organized Reserves as Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 108th Airborne Division Artillery
  • Activated 30 October 1947 at Atlanta, Georgia
  • (Organized Reserves redesignated 25 March 1948 as the Organized Reserve Corps; redesignated 9 July 1952 as the Army Reserve)
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 March 1952 as Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 108th Division Artillery
  • Location changed 1 April 1952 to Durham, North Carolina; changed 1 October 1955 to Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Reorganized and redesignated 30 April 1959 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 108th Regiment, an element of the 108th Division (Training), and location changed to Raleigh, North Carolina (organic elements concurrently organized as new units)
  • Regiment reorganized 31 January 1968 to consist of the 1st and 2d Battalions, elements of the 108th Division (Training)
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 December 1971 to consist of the 1st, 2d, and 3d Battalions, elements of the 108th Division (Training)
  • Reorganized 16 October 1978 to consist of the 1st, 2d, 3d, and 4th Battalions, elements of the 108th Division (Training)
  • Reorganized 1 October 1994 to consist of the 1st, 2d, 3d, and 4th Battalions, elements of the 108th Division (Institutional Training)
  • Reorganized 13 January 1995 to consist of the 1st, 3d, and 4th Battalions, elements of the 108th Division (Institutional Training)
  • Reorganized 16 October - November 1996 to consist of the 1st, 2d, 3d, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Battalions, elements of the 108th Division (Institutional Training)
  • Reorganized 17 October 2005 to consist of the 1st, 2d, 3d, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th Battalions, elements of the 108th Division (Institutional Training)
    (11th and 12th Battalions relieved 1 October 2006 from assignment to the 108th Division [Institutional Training] and assigned to the 84th Division [Institutional Training] [later redesignated as the 84th Training Command])
  • (3d, 5th, 6th and 10th Battalions relieved 1 October 2007 from assignment to the 108th Division [Institutional Training] and assigned to the 100th Division [Institutional Training] [later redesignated as the 100th Training Division])
  • (108th Division [Institutional Training] reorganized and redesignated 16 September 2008 as the 108th Training Division)
  • Regiment reorganized 1 December 2008 as a parent regiment under the United States Army Regimental System; concurrently 1st, 2d, 4th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 13th Battalions relieved from assignment to the 108th Training Division
  • Reorganized 15 March 2009 to consist of the 1st, 2d, 3d, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 13th Battalions
