348th REGIMENT

 

Constituted 5 August 1917 in the National Army as the 348th Infantry and assigned to the 87th Division

Organized in September 1917 at Camp Pike, Arkansas

Demobilized in March 1919 at Camp Dix, New Jersey

Reconstituted 24 June 1921 in the Organized Reserves as the 348th Infantry and assigned to the 87th Division

Organized in December 1921 with Headquarters at Columbus, Mississippi

Relieved 13 February 1942 from assignment to the 87th Division; concurrently allotted to the Army of the United States as an inactive unit

Disbanded 11 November 1944

Reconstituted 1 October 1993 in the Army Reserve as the 348th Regiment and organized to consist of the 1st, 2d, and 3d Battalions, elements of the 87th Division (Exercise)

Reorganized 13 January 1995 to consist of the 2d and 3d Battalions, elements of the 87th Division (Exercise)

Reorganized 17 October 1999 to consist of the 2d and 3d Battalions, elements of the 87th Division (Training Support)

(2d and 3d Battalions relieved 1 April 2007 from assignment to the 87th Division [Training Support])
