50th Signal Battalion

  • Constituted 16 December 1899 in the Regular Army as Company H, Signal Corps, and organized in the Philippine Islands
  • Reorganized and redesignated 15 November 1913 as Telegraph Company H, Signal Corps
  • Consolidated 19 September 1916 with the 1st Provisional Company, Signal Corps (organized 21 May 1916 at Fort Sam Houston, Texas), and consolidated unit reorganized and redesignated as the 1st Telegraph Battalion
  • Redesignated 1 October 1917 as the 51st Telegraph Battalion
  • Consolidated 8 March 1921 with the 52d Telegraph Battalion (organized 19 October 1916 at Columbus, New Mexico), and consolidated unit reorganized and redesignated as the 50th Signal Battalion
  • Inactivated 24 September 1921 at Fort Sam Houston, Texas
  • Activated 1 July 1940 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois
  • Inactivated (less Company B) 15 December 1945 in Germany (Company B inactivated 23 April 1946 in Germany)
  • Redesignated 27 September 1951 as the 50th Signal Battalion, Corps
  • Activated 24 October 1951 in Japan
  • Reorganized and redesignated 20 December 1954 as the 50th Signal Battalion
  • Reorganized and redesignated 15 May 1957 as the 50th Airborne Signal Battalion
  • Reorganized and redesignated 15 December 1958 as the 50th Signal Battalion
