            Constituted 19 July 1942 in the Army of the United States as the 442d Signal Construction Battalion, Aviation

            Activated 1 August 1942 in Puerto Rico

            Reorganized and redesignated 1 August 1944 as the 442d Signal Heavy Construction Battalion

            Inactivated 30 June 1946 in Japan

            Redesignated 6 November 1967 as the 442d Signal Battalion, allotted to the Regular Army, and activated in Thailand

            (Companies A, B, and C inactivated 14 July 1969 in Thailand)

            Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 442d Signal Battalion, inactivated 30 June 1971 in Thailand

            Headquarters transferred 23 September 1986 to the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command and activated at Fort Gordon, Georgia
