Constituted 24 May 1917 in the Regular Army as the Motor Supply Train, 1st Division

Organized 17 February 1918 in France

Redesignated 1 August 1918 as the 1st Supply Train, an element of the 1st Division (later redesignated as the 1st Infantry Division)

Reorganized and redesignated 23 March 1921 as the 1st Division Train, Quartermaster Corps

Reorganized and redesignated 23 March 1925 as the 1st Division Quartermaster Train

Inactivated 15 June 1931 at Fort Hamilton, New York

Redesignated 1 April 1936 as the 1st Quartermaster Regiment

Activated 1 May 1936 at Fort Hamilton, New York, as an element of the 1st Division

Headquarters and Headquarters Company and Companies A, B, and E reorganized and redesignated 11 October 1939 as the 1st Quartermaster Battalion (remainder of regiment concurrently disbanded)

Reorganized and redesignated 17 November 1943 as the 1st Quartermaster Company (Ordnance Medium Maintenance Platoon, Headquarters Company, concurrently reorganized and redesignated as the 701st Ordnance Light Maintenance Company--hereafter separate lineage)

Reorganized and redesignated 2 January 1964 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Supply and Transport Battalion (organic elements constituted 23 October 1963 and activated 2 January 1964)

Inactivated 15 May 1985 at Fort Riley, Kansas

Redesignated 1 May 1987 as the 101st Support Battalion and activated at Fort Riley, Kansas, as an element of the 1st Infantry Division

Relieved 16 September 2009 from assignment to the 1st Infantry Division and assigned to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division
