328th SUPPORT BATTALION

  • Constituted 10 July 1916 in the Pennsylvania National Guard as the Sanitary Train, 7th Division
  • Organized 30 September 1916 at Camp Stewart, Texas, from two ambulance companies and two field hospitals mustered into Federal service 18 June and 9 July 1916; mustered out of Federal service 18 October 1916 and 22-23 January 1917
  • Mustered into Federal service 18-24 July 1917; drafted into Federal service 5 August 1917
  • (7th Division reorganized and redesignated 1 September 1917 as the 28th Division)
  • Reorganized and redesignated 11 October 1917 as the 103d Sanitary Train
  • Demobilized 18 May 1919 at Camp Dix, New Jersey
  • Reorganized 1 April 1921 in the Pennsylvania National Guard as the 103d Medical Regiment and assigned to the 28th Division (later redesignated as the 28th Infantry Division); Headquarters Federally recognized 15 December 1921 at Harrisburg
  • (Location of Headquarters changed 18 December 1924 to Coraopolis; on 23 June 1935 to Lancaster)
  • Inducted into Federal service 17 February 1941 at home stations
  • Reorganized and redesignated 17 February 1942 as the 103d Medical Battalion
  • Inactivated 27 October 1945 at Camp Shelby, Mississippi
  • Reorganized and Federally recognized 23 September 1947 in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard at Lancaster as the 103d Medical Battalion, an element of the 28th Infantry Division
  • Ordered into active Federal service 5 September 1950 at Lancaster
  • (103d Medical Battalion [NGUS] organized and Federally recognized 3 September 1953 with Headquarters at Lancaster)
  • Released from active Federal service 15 June 1954 and reverted to state control; Federal recognition concurrently withdrawn from the 103d Medical Battalion (NGUS)
  • (Company C allotted 21 January 1968 to the Maryland Army National Guard; Company D allotted 1 February 1968 to the Virginia Army National Guard; Companies C and D reallotted 1 April 1975 to the Pennsylvania Army National Guard)
  • Converted, reorganized, and redesignated 1 March 1992 as the 328th Support Battalion and remained assigned to the 28th Infantry Division
  • Ordered into active Federal service 19 September 2008 at home stations; released from active Federal service 23 October 2009 and reverted to state control
  • HOME AREA: Eastern Pennsylvania
