New Market is located along Interstate 81 about 55 miles south of Winchester and 80 miles north of Lexington. Take exit 67 (New Market) and either begin your tour as described below or visit the Virginia Military Institute Hall of Valor. This may be reached by turning right off the exit, then making an immediate right onto the Collins Parkway (CR 619). Proceed two miles north on the Parkway and you will see the Hall of Valor on your left (west).

The 54th Pennsylvania Memorial was dedicated by members of the regimental association on 25 October 1905. It was funded jointly by the association and the Keystone State and placed on a small plot donated for the purpose. Title to the land was transferred from Pennsylvania to the Battlefield Park in ceremonies on 19 September 1984.
