82d CAVALRY REGIMENT

  • Constituted 26 March 1959 in the Oregon Army National Guard as the 82d Armor, a parent regiment under the Combat Arms Regimental System
  • Organized 1 April 1959 from existing units to consist of the 1st Reconnaissance Squadron, an element of the 41st Infantry Division
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 March 1963 as the 82d Cavalry to consist of the 1st Squadron, an element of the 41st Infantry Division
  • Reorganized 1 November 1965 to consist of the 1st Squadron, an element of the 41st Infantry Division, and Troop E, an element of the 41st Infantry Brigade
  • Reorganized 1 March 1968 to consist of Troop E, an element of the 41st Infantry Brigade
  • Withdrawn 1 September 1989 from the Combat Arms Regimental System and reorganized under the United States Army Regimental System in the Nevada and Oregon Army National Guard to consist of the 1st Battalion, an element of the 116th Cavalry Brigade
  • Reorganized 1 September 1992 in the Oregon Army National Guard to consist of the 1st Battalion, an element of the 116th Cavalry Brigade
  • Reorganized 1 October 1995 to consist of Troop E, an element of the 41st Infantry Brigade, Troop F, an element of the 29th Infantry Brigade, and Troop G, an element of the 116th Cavalry Brigade
  • (Troop F ordered into active Federal service 16 August 2004 at Lebanon; released from active Federal service 15 March 2006 and reverted to state control)
  • Redesignated 1 October 2005 as the 82d Cavalry Regiment
  • Reorganized 1 September 2006 to consist of the 1st Squadron, an element of the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team, with Headquarters at Bend
  • Ordered into active Federal service 2 May 2009 at home stations; released from active Federal service 5 June 2010 and reverted to state control
