142d AVIATION REGIMENT

 

Constituted 1 October 1987 in the New York Army National Guard as the 142d Aviation, a parent regiment under the United States Army Regimental System; concurrently organized from existing units with Headquarters at Latham, to consist of the 1st Battalion and Companies D, E, and F, elements of the 42d Infantry Division

Reorganized 1 September 1990 to consist of the 1st Battalion and Company F, elements of the 42d Infantry Division, and the 2d Battalion

Reorganized 1 September 1995 to consist of the 1st Battalion, and Company F, elements of the 42d Infantry Division, and the 3d Battalion

Reorganized 1 September 1996 in the New York and Puerto Rico Army National Guard to consist of the 1st Battalion, an element of the 42d Infantry Division, and the 3d Battalion; concurrently, location of Headquarters changed to Rochester

Reorganized 1 September 1999 to consist of the 1st Battalion, an element of the 42d Infantry Division, and the 3d Battalion

(1st Battalion ordered into active Federal Service 3 January 2004 at Rochester; released from active Federal service 1 July 2005 and reverted to state control)

Reorganized and redesignated 1 October 2005 in the New York, Connecticut, and Maine Army National Guard as the 142d Aviation Regiment, to consist of the 1st Battalion, and the 3d Battalion, an element of the 42d Infantry Division

Reorganized 26 June 2007 in the New York, Connecticut, and Maine Army National Guard to consist of the 3d Battalion, an element of the 42d Infantry Division, with Headquarters at Ronkonkoma

(3d Battalion ordered into active Federal service 5 June 2008 at home stations; released from active Federal service 9 July 2009 and reverted to state control)
