- Redesignated 16 July 1987 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2d Battalion, 227th Aviation, relieved from assignment to the 1st Cavalry Division, assigned to the 3d Armored Division, and activated in Germany (organic elements concurrently constituted and activated)
