  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 July 1965 as Company B, 227th Aviation Battalion, an element of the 1st Cavalry Division
  • Inactivated 19 November 1974 at Fort Hood, Texas
  • Activated 21 May 1978 at Fort Hood, Texas
  • Inactivated 1 September 1985 at Fort Hood, Texas
  • Redesignated 16 July 1987 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2d Battalion, 227th Aviation, relieved from assignment to the 1st Cavalry Division, assigned to the 3d Armored Division, and activated in Germany (organic elements concurrently constituted and activated)
  • Battalion relieved 15 August 1992 from assignment to the 3d Armored Division and assigned to the 1st Armored Division
  • Relieved 16 February 1997 from assignment to the 1st Armored Division and assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division
  • Redesignated 1 October 2005 as 2d Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment
  • Relieved 16 October 2005 from assignment to the 1st Cavalry Division and assigned to the Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division
