Reorganized and redesignated 1 May 1982 as Company D, 149th Aviation Battalion
Location changed 14 April 1986 to Marana
Relieved 1 October 1986 from assignment to the 49th Armored Division; concurrently expanded, reorganized, and redesignated as the 551st Aviation Battalion
Reorganized and redesignated 1 October 1987 as the 285th Aviation, a parent regiment under the United States Army Regimental System, to consist of the 1st Battalion
Reorganized 1 September 2000 to consist of the 1st Battalion and Company G
(Company G ordered into active Federal service 10 March 2003 at Phoenix; released from active Federal service 8 May 2004 and reverted to state control)
Reorganized and redesignated 1 October 2005 in the Arizona, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and Utah Army National Guard as the 285th Aviation Regiment, to consist of the 1st and 2d Battalions
(1st Battalion ordered into active Federal service 1 May 2006 at home stations; released from active Federal service 29 April 2008 and reverted to state control)
