Inactivated 1 July 1949 at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii

Redesignated 18 September 1950 as Headquarters, 479th Chemical Service Battalion, and allotted to the Organized Reserve Corps

Activated 3 October 1950 at Providence, Rhode Island

Reorganized and redesignated 1 May 1952 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 479th Chemical Service Battalion

(Organized Reserve Corps redesignated 9 July 1952 as the Army Reserve)

Reorganized and redesignated 21 November 1953 as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 479th Chemical Battalion

Location changed 13 April 1954 to Bristol, Rhode Island

Inactivated in 1968 at Bristol, Rhode Island

Activated 17 September 2002 at Far Rockaway, New York

Element ordered into active military service 19 May 2009 at Far Rockaway, New York; released from active military service 22 June 2010 and reverted to reserve status

Location changed 25 March 2011 to Fort Totten, New York
