Constituted 18 May 1917 in the National Army as an element of the 25th Engineer Regiment

(25th Engineer Regiment organized in September 1917 as the 25th Engineers)

Company D, 25th Engineers, activated 13 September 1917 at Camp Devens, Massachusetts

Redesignated 20 October 1917 as Company A, 29th Engineers

Demobilized 13 July 1919 at Camp Upton, New York

Former 29th Engineers reconstituted 14 July 1923 in the Regular Army as the 29th Engineer Battalion; concurrently consolidated with the 17th Engineer Battalion (activated 19 September 1921 at Camp Humphreys, Virginia) and consolidated unit designated as the 29th Engineer Battalion

Company A, 29th Engineer Battalion, reorganized and redesignated 7 November 1941 as Company A, 29th Engineer Topographic Battalion

Reorganized and redesignated 1 July 1944 as the 1541st Engineer Survey Company

Reorganized and redesignated 19 November 1945 as the 1541st Engineer Base Survey Company

Redesignated 30 June 1947 as the 29th Engineer Base Survey Company

Reorganized and redesignated 28 March 1954 as the 29th Engineer Company

Inactivated 26 March 1966 in Japan

Activated 16 June 1966 in Italy

Inactivated 31 August 1970 in Italy

Assigned 16 January 2011 to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, and activated at Fort Bliss, Texas
