220th ENGINEER COMPANY

 

Organized and Federally recognized 31 July 1928 in the Missouri National Guard at Festus as Company M, 140th Infantry, an element of the 35th Division (later redesignated as the 35th Infantry Division)

Inducted into Federal service 23 December 1940 at Festus

(140th Infantry relieved 27 January 1943 from assignment to the 35th Infantry Division)

Inactivated 20 September 1945 at Camp Rucker, Alabama

(140th Infantry assigned 20 June 1946 to the 35th Infantry Division)

Reorganized and Federally recognized 6 January 1947 at Festus as Company H, 140th Infantry

Converted and redesignated 15 April 1959 as Company C, 204th Signal Battalion, an element of the 35th Infantry Division

Ordered into active Federal service 1 October 1961 at Festus; released from active Federal service 9 August 1962 and reverted to state control

Relieved 1 April 1963 from assignment to the 35th Infantry Division; concurrently, converted and redesignated as the 208th Engineer Company

Ordered into active Federal service 13 May 1968 at Festus; released from active Federal service 13 December 1969 and reverted to state control

Reorganized and redesignated 1 March 1972 as Detachment 1, 220th Engineer Company

Consolidated 1 January 1991 with the 220th Engineer Company (see ANNEX), and consolidated unit designated as the 220th Engineer Company
                                                                  
Ordered into active Federal service 5 January 2005 at Festus; released from active Federal service 1 September 2006 and reverted to state control

ANNEX

Constituted 6 April 1961 in the Missouri Army National Guard as Company D, 880th Engineer Battalion

Organized and Federally recognized 15 April 1961 at St. Louis

Reorganized and redesignated 1 April 1963 as the 220th Engineer Company
