  • Redesignated in 1792 as a company of the Infantry of the 1st Sub-Legion
  • Redesignated 31 October 1796 as a company of the 1st Infantry
  • Consolidated May-October 1815 with a company of the 5th Infantry (constituted 12 April 1808), a company of the 17th Infantry (constituted 11 January 1812), a company of the 19th Infantry (constituted 26 June 1812), and a company of the 28th Infantry (constituted 29 January 1813) to form a company of the 3d Infantry
  • Designated 22 May 1816 as Company A, 3d Infantry
  • Consolidated 9 September 1869 with part of Company C, 37th Infantry (see ANNEX), and consolidated unit designated as Company A, 3d Infantry
  • (3d Infantry assigned 24 March 1923 to the 7th Division; relieved 15 August 1927 from assignment to the 7th Division and assigned to the 6th Division; relieved

  • Inactivated 1 June 1941 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri

  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 July 1957 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battle Group, 3d Infantry (organic elements concurrently constituted and activated)
  • Reorganized and redesignated 20 September 1963 as the 1st Battalion, 3d Infantry
  • Redesignated 1 October 2005 as the 1st Battalion, 3d Infantry Regiment
