Constituted 20 October 1922 as the 118th Medical Regiment, assigned to the 43d Division, and allotted to the Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Vermont National Guard

            Headquarters organized and Federally recognized 5 December 1923 at New Haven, Connecticut, (remainder of regiment organized 1923-1926 from new and existing medical elements in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Vermont)

            Inducted into Federal service 24 February 1941 at home stations

            Regiment broken up 19 February 1942 and its elements reorganized, redesignated or disbanded as follows:

            Headquarters, Headquarters and Service Company, and Companies A, B, G, and H as Headquarters, Headquarters Detachment, Companies A, B, C, and Clearing Company, 118th Medical Battalion, elements of the 43d Infantry Division (Band as Band, Fort Niagara, New York Reception Center - hereafter, separate lineage; remainder of  regiment disbanded)

            118th Medical Battalion inactivated 14 October 1945 at Camp Stoneman, California

            Reorganized in the Connecticut National Guard with Headquarters Federally recognized 8 November 1946 at Hartford

            Ordered into active Federal service 5 September 1950 at home stations

            (118th Medical Battalion [NGUS] organized and Federally recognized 25 September 1952 with Headquarters at New Haven)

            Released from active Federal service 15 June 1954 and reverted to state control with
location of Headquarters changed to New Haven; Federal recognition concurrently withdrawn from the 118th Medical Battalion (NGUS)

            (Company B allotted 1 March 1959 to the Vermont Army National Guard; withdrawn
1 April 1963 from the Vermont Army National Guard)

            Battalion broken up 1 May 1963 and its elements reorganized and redesignated as follows:

            Headquarters and Headquarters Company as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 118th Medical Battalion, and relieved from assignment to the 43d Infantry Division (Company A as the 142d Medical Company - hereafter separate lineage)

            Reorganized 1 March 1996 in the Connecticut, Massachusetts, Ohio, and Wisconsin Army National Guard as the 118th Medical Battalion, with Headquarters at New Haven, Connecticut

            Location of Headquarters changed 1 March 2002 to Newington, Connecticut

            Ordered into active Federal service 7 December 2003 at home stations; released from active Federal service 29 May-3 June 2005 and reverted to state control

            Reorganized 1 September 2006 in the Connecticut Army National Guard with Headquarters at Newington; battalion concurrently broken up and its elements reorganized and redesignated as follows:

            Headquarters and Headquarters Company as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 118th Medical Battalion

          (Companies A-C reorganized and redesignated as Company C, 126th Support Battalion (Massachusetts), the 135th Medical Company (Wisconsin) and the 684th Medical Company (Ohio), respectively – hereafter separate lineages)
         
            Ordered into active Federal service 13 August 2009 at Newington; released from active Federal service 16 September 2010 and reverted to state control
