390th Regiment

  • Constituted 23 July 1918 in the National Army as the 390th Infantry and assigned to the 98th Division
  • Demobilized 30 November 1918
  • Reconstituted 24 June 1921 in the Organized Reserves as the 390th Infantry and assigned to the 98th Division (later redesignated as the 98th Infantry Division)
  • Organized in December 1921 with Headquarters at Utica, New York
  • Ordered into active military service 15 September 1942 and reorganized at Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky
  • Inactivated 16 February 1946 in Japan
  • Activated 19 December 1946 in the Organized Reserves with Headquarters at Buffalo, New York
  • (Organized Reserves redesignated 25 March 1948 as the Organized Reserve Corps; redesignated 9 July 1952 as the Army Reserve)
  • (Location of Headquarters changed 7 December 1958 to Tonawanda, New York)
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 May 1959 as the 390th Regiment, an element of the 98th Division (Training), with Headquarters at Amherst, New York
  • Reorganized 31 January 1968 to consist of the 1st, 2d, and 3d Battalions, elements of the 98th Division (Training)
  • Reorganized 16 September 1993 to consist of the 1st and 2d Battalions, elements of the 98th Division (Training)
  • Reorganized 1 October 1994 to consist of the 1st and 2d Battalions, elements of the 98th Division (Institutional Training)
  • 1st and 2d Battalions inactivated 13 January 1995 and relieved from assignment to the 98th Division (Institutional Training)
  • Regiment reorganized 16 October 1996 to consist of the 1st and 2d Battalions, elements of the 98th Division (Institutional Training)
  • Elements ordered into active military service in support of the War on Terrorism
  • Regiment reorganized 15 December 2006 to consist of the 1st Battalion, an element of the 98th Division (Institutional Training)
  • (1st Battalion relieved 1 October 2007 from assignment to the 98th Division [Institutional Training] and assigned to the 95th Division [Institutional Training])
  • (1st Battalion relieved 1 October 2008 from assignment to the 95th Division [Institutional Training] and assigned to the 98th Training Division)
  • Regiment reorganized 1 October 2015 as a parent regiment under the United States Army Regimental System
