536th SIGNAL BATTALION

 

Organized and Federally recognized 1 November 1973 from existing units in the Texas Army National Guard as the 249th Signal Battalion, an element of the 49th Armored Division, with Headquarters at Dallas

Headquarters and Headquarters Company ordered into active Federal service 5 February 2000 at Dallas; released from active Federal service 1 November 2000 and reverted to state control

Redesignated 1 May 2004 as the 536th Signal Battalion; concurrently relieved from assignment to the 49th Armored Division and assigned to the 36th Infantry Division

HOME AREA: Northeastern Texas
