Constituted 14 June 1942 in the Army of the United States as the 385th Quartermaster Battalion

Activated 3 July 1942 at Camp Stoneman, California

Converted and redesignated 31 July 1942 as the 385th Port Battalion, Transportation Corps

Battalion broken up 10 March 1944 and its elements reorganized and redesignated as follows:

Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 385th Port Battalion

(Companies A-D as the 668th, 669th, 670th, and 671st Port Companies, respectively--hereafter separate lineages)

385th Port Battalion disbanded 20 June 1945

Reconstituted 17 March 1948 in the Organized Reserves as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 385th Transportation Port Battalion

(Organized Reserves redesignated 25 March 1948 as the Organized Reserve Corps; redesignated 9 July 1952 as the Army Reserve)

Activated 2 April 1948 at Buffalo, New York

Redesignated 24 February 1950 as Headquarters, Headquarters and Service Company, 385th Transportation Port Battalion

Inactivated 31 July 1950 at Buffalo, New York

Redesignated 16 September 1955 as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 385th Transportation Battalion

Activated 1 November 1955 at Brooklyn, New York

Inactivated 1 May 1959 at Brooklyn, New York

Activated 16 June 1998 at Tacoma, Washington

Ordered into active military service 18 December 2003 at Tacoma, Washington; released from active military service 26 December 2004 and reverted to reserve status
