About the Center of Military History

The U.S. Army Center of Military History is responsible for the appropriate use of history throughout the United States Army. The Center preserves, interprets, and communicates the Army's history and heritage in support of professional military education, leadership, institutional decision-making, and public understanding.

CMH leads and coordinates the Army Historical Program and supports historical activities throughout the Army. Its work encompasses historical research and publications, museums, archives, field history, organizational history, historical properties, and programs designed to preserve the experiences and accomplishments of Soldiers and Army organizations.
