Individual Mobilization Augmentees (IMAs)

The U.S. Army Center of Military History (CMH) has positions and accepts applications for Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) Field Historians. Vacancies vary however applications can be made for future positions. IMA Field Historians support CMH’s efforts to provide critical historical support to various Army commands and collect and document the Army’s operational history. IMAs work to answer commanders’ RFIs, inform current and future operational planning, document the history of the supported command, and report the command’s history to CMH. IMAs also assist with CMH’s Field History propenency functions and can serve as field history OC/Ts, instructors, and trainers.


 

Officer Positions: Branch Immaterial O6, O5, O4, and O3 positions.

NCO Positions:

One E8 position.

You do not need to be in the Army IMA program to apply to be a CMH IMA. CMH will work to transfer you from your TPU unit into any vacant IMA positions. IMAs are not active-duty positions but are a part of the Select Reserve and may participate in CO-ADOS, ADOS, and mobilization tours to support various commands.

Qualifications:

Preference for CMH IMA Field Historian positions will be given to soldiers who have a BA/MA in the field of history or equivalent. All candidates should have at least 18 credit hours of history so that they can qualify for the 5X SI or ASI after the completion of required training. IMAs assigned to the training branch should be OC/T and/or CFDIC qualified or willing to attend training.

  • Military Bio
  • Civilian Resume (if applicable for the position)
  • ORB or STP
  • Brief statement about yourself and on why you are interested in the position
