Visiting the Museum

About the Lewis Army Museum

The Lewis Army Museum is located in the Historic Red Shield Inn on Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM). The Lewis Army Museum is the only certified U.S. Army Museum on the West Coast. The Museum preserves and interprets historic artifacts relevant to Camp Lewis, Fort Lewis, and the role that the United States Army has played in the exploration, defense and development of the Pacific Northwest.

During 2017 the museum went through a major redesign. New exhibits feature full-scale dioramas, as well as immersive and interactive experiences.

Exhibits

The Lewis Gallery interprets the early history of the Army in the Pacific Northwest and the history of the post, from Camp Lewis to Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

The Hall of Valor showcases the battle histories of some units that have served at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
