Throughout the Revolutionary War 250th Commemoration, our museums are providing artifacts, exhibits and special events to highlight the Army’s role and Soldiers experiences in the war. The Army Museum Enterprise (AME) preserves and displays the history of the American Soldier and the U.S. Army.

Summary of planned Revolutionary War activities at some of our museums:
 
82nd Airborne Division Museum, Fort Liberty, North Carolina:
Museum facilitates requests for historical support based on availability of resources from these three nearby National Park Service battlefield site: Moore’s Creek (Feb 1776), Cowpens (Jan 1781), Guilford Court House (Feb 1781).
 
Airborne & Special Operations Museum, Fort Liberty, North Carolina:
The ASOM is in the early stages of working with the City of Fayetteville, NC on a Rev War event in June 2025 to commemorate the 250th of signing of the Liberty Point Resolves in Fayetteville.  Local lore states that after the document was signed, it was nailed to the large oak tree on the ASOM’s grounds.
 
Army Medical Department Museum (AMEDD), Fort Sam Houston, Texas:
AMEDD will be re-opening in 2026 and the first exhibit in the new galleries, and a new case in the front hallway, will highlight the American Revolution.  Original period surgical instruments, an Apothecary Mate figure with period botanicals, and an extended exhibit on the smallpox inoculation initiative of 1777 will all be featured.  The hallway case will remain in place past 2026.
 
Basic Combat Training Museum, Fort Jackson, South Carolina:
Available to assist local historians for historical support to Rev War Battle sites in the area.

 
Current ongoing displays:
1-Steuben's Regulations for the Order and Discipline of the Troops of the United States, the Army's first drill manual.
2-Replica uniform/weapons display in the museum and in the Post HQ.
 
Chaplain Corps Museum, Fort Jackson, South Carolina:
Current Rev War exhibit in the gallery. We will be working with other Jackson museum staff to develop static Rev War displays on post.
 
Finance Corps Museum, Fort Jackson, South Carolina:
Provide historical support to local history and heritage partners.
Updating our Revolutionary War display in Museum gallery.
 
Fort Gregg-Adams Museums, Virginia:
WETA, PBS Sr. Manager for National Engagement & Partnerships connected with the Army Women’s Museum curator to work together with the Fort Gregg-Museums for community engagement opportunities around the upcoming Ken Burns film about the American Revolution.
 
Fort Sam Houston Museum, Texas:
Adding an exhibition on the Spanish colonial support given to Washington’s Army including Texas cattle sent east to feed the troops. Opening date TBD.
 
Fort Sill Museums, Oklahoma: 
Exhibit on Small Arms of the American Revolution opening Feb 2025.
 
General George Patton Museum, Fort Knox, Kentucky:
Currently have a temporary graphic display in our lobby informing visitors that there will be special events on / around the 250th Army birthday on June 14, 2025.
 
We will have several reproductions of Rev War equipment to conduct the following:
a. A Rev War Subaltern (Lieutenant) uniform and equipment to represent the junior officers – emphasis on the ROTC training audience we have here each summer.
b. A Rev War Continental line Soldier equipment temporary exhibit.
c. One additional basic set of reproduction Continental line uniform and equipment for teaching use.  


National Infantry Museum, Fort Moore, Georgia:
A current exhibit is available about the Infantry during the 250 years of the Army.
 
West Point and Harbor Defense:
The West Point Museum and Harbor Defense Museum both have exhibitions planned to coincide with the Revolutionary War 250th commemoration. Both exhibits are slated to open in 2025 and will be up for a couple years.
 
The Harbor Defense Museum exhibit will focus on the Revolution War in the NYC region and the Battle of Brooklyn. Museum Curator, Justin Batt has programmed several artifacts from his holdings along with loans from the Army Museum Support Center in Virginia. In addition, he is having two figures made by StudioEIS. These will be featured at the main entrance of the HD Museum.
 
At the West Point Museum, there will be an exhibit focused on the Revolution War in the Hudson Highlands. Museum Curator, Michael Diaz, is writing the storyline and two areas of the museum will be featured. The exhibit will focus on the fortifications at West Point, and feature some of the Army’s earliest war trophies.

The Harbor Defense Museum is supporting the NYC Recruiting battalion and plans to provide guest lectures and historical support to other Army agencies. The HDM, has supported the NMUSA with an overseas trip to France in support of their exhibit research and is working with the Curator at Saratoga on possible shared artifacts.
