The U.S. Army Center of Military History (CMH) invites qualified Army Reserve officers to apply to become the CMH Historian/Scholar in Residence. All officers must be available to serve a two-year tour of duty, with the first year of duty spent serving as a military history instructor on the rotating faculty of the Department of History at the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point and the second year spent on a utilization tour at the U.S. Army Center of Military History.
Eligibility:
- Officers in the rank of Captain to Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.
- Officers must hold a Master of Arts degree (or higher) in History from a qualified institution, such as a civilian university with a fully accredited program, or from a fully accredited military graduate program like the Master of Military Art and Science (MMAS) from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
Interested officers should see the MILPER message for complete details and requirements. MILPER is generally issued in December or January for the next application period.
